"The Sirens were creatures that sang beautifully, luring those passing by to their deaths". Yoojeong recited as she read the matter written in the book. "Those who hear the song can't resist and are lured to the Sirens' location, which ends up in their death." She continued reading to herself as she advanced further in the same page. "All they do is to repeat the same thing over and over again." Yoojeong sighed, eventually regretting her decision of buying the book.

Yoojeong was a typical college- going brunette, who seemed to be way too much into fantasy and mystics. Every supernatural creature was her favorite, but her inclination towards sirens was on another level. She had an unusual penchant for them. Being from a musical background, all she wished was to listen to their song for just one time before her demise.

She wasn't pleased with the way books told about them. She had this desire of meeting at least one siren in her lifetime, which was practically quite impossible. She wanted to experience the magic that laid in their voice. She wanted to meet those immeasurably beautiful creatures who apparently faced extinction because of some greedy humans. But the actual problem that lied was that no book would tell about their present location, which Yoojeong was so desperate to know about.

Only if she got to track down her beloved sirens, her senseless quest would be completed.

"Hey mom, I'm home." She tiredly called out to her mother while slumping down into a couch. Her longing to know about them was increasing day by day, and successive failures in return were disappointing her.

"Good, wash up yourself. I got something really very useful for you." Her mom shouted from the kitchen. She could hear consequent clanking sounds which suggested that her mom was busy with the utensils. But the discernible sound soon got diminished as if she entered into a void. She focused once again on the last sentence which her mother spoke. And within no time, her heartbeat began to race faster.

'Could it be..?' She thought, assuming it to be something related to sirens. That was how much her mind was preoccupied with the thoughts of sirens. The sirens had taken over her, it seemed so.

She rushed to the place where her mom was supposed to be and clung onto her back. Taken aback by the sudden move, her mom jerked, causing a dish to fall down and break into numerous pieces. Yoojeong sensed the situation and detached herself slowly from her mother, attempting to tiptoe out of the scene.

But alas, she was too late to react.

Her mom's hand had reached her ear, which she twisted playfully and said, "This is something that a 20 year old girl shouldn't do." Yoojeong abruptly shook her head in agreement and tried to free herself from her mother's hold at the same time. But her mother's repugnance to leave her told otherwise. Ultimately, Yoojeong surrendered, to which her mother chuckled.

"So what is it?" The girl asked in one go, not minding the gap between the words that she uttered.

"I found out sirens' present day location!" The mother exclaimed joyously as she slapped her daughter's arm in excitement.

"Ouch, that hurt," Yoojeong whined, but a part of her was compelling her to ask about the place as quickly as possible, "Where's the place, by the way?" She asked, anticipating an answer which could douse her curiosity.

"There's a cave beneath a cascade which is situated on a hill. And that hill, surprisingly, is the one behind your college building. You need to go into the cave if you want to know whether, whatever I'm telling you, is truth or not. That place is mentioned in the legends, that's why I doubt the authenticity of the fact. But what's the harm in checking out anyway, right?" Her mother tapped her shoulder as if she was provoking her to go and find out the truth.

"You are indeed the world's coolest mom!" Yoojeong hugged her mom lovingly before setting out for her adventure.
